Program Description
Mississippi's first nursing school, the University of Mississippi School of Nursing, has prepared thousands of nurses for the workforce and provided the state with its most preeminent nursing leaders. In addition to this legacy of excellence, UMMC nursing students receive an unprecedented educational experience on an academic health science campus. In Jackson, School of Nursing students receive an excellent educational experience on an academic health science campus, home to four major hospitals - University Hospital, Children's of Mississippi, Wallace Conerly Critical Care Hospital and Wiser Hospital for Women and Infants. In Oxford, students can continue their education at the state's flagship institution and access innumerable Ole Miss student resources - all while receiving the first-rate education that the University of Mississippi School of Nursing is best known for providing.
Early acceptance to nationally ranked nursing school:
The School of Nursing’s Freshman Early Entry pathway provides an entry into the baccalaureate nursing program as a college freshman rather than as a junior. This pathway provides opportunities to engage in professional and personal relationships with the School of Nursing faculty and upperclassmen immediately upon entering college. Likewise, FEE students avoid the competitive selection process for admission into the Traditional BSN program after completing the pre-nursing curriculum. Peace of mind comes with knowing that upon completing the prerequisites, as long as pathway requirements are maintained, you will have a guaranteed spot in the Traditional BSN program. Note: The FEE program is only offered for the Traditional BSN on the University of Mississippi Medical Center campus.
